To help my clients resolve their issues, I employ a solution-focused approach, EMDR, and other approaches, depending on the specific situation in which clients finds themselves.
For many issues, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is my preferred approach, which is goal oriented, targeting the desired outcome of therapy as a solution rather than focusing on the symptoms or issues that brought someone to therapy. This technique emphasizes present and future circumstances and desires over past experiences.
For anxiety and trauma, I will often use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Preprocessing). EMDR is an evidenced-based treatment approach that uses bilateral stimulation to reprocess traumatic memories or anxiety-producing thoughts.
Other techniques can be employed as needed for specific situations.
